Toei revealed on Monday that "Shin Evangelion Gekijōban AVANT 1 (Beginning 10 Minutes 40 Seconds 00 Frame) 0706 Version," the first 10 minutes and 40 seconds of Studio Khara's new Evangelion film, Shin Evangelion Gekijō-ban :||, will screen in six locations in Japan, including in Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hakata, and in two locations in Tokyo. All locations will debut the footage on July 6 at 8:15 p.m. JST. The exact locations will be revealed via the EVA-EXTRA smartphone app on July 6 at 12:00 p.m. JST.
The video will also screen in Shanghai on July 6 at 7:00 p.m. GMT +8 during an Evangelion event in Jing'an District. The footage will debut after a screening of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
As previously announced, the Japan Expo event in Paris will screen the video at a "Yoko Takahashi x Evangelion Stage" presentation. The video will also screen at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 6 at 8:00 p.m. PDT, after a screening of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
At the time of the announcement of the screening of the film's footage, Toei stated the video will screen simultaneously worldwide, but did not state where it will be available outside of those cities and events, or if those events will be the only places that will screen the video.
The video is the introduction scene to the film before the title card.
Toei released the free EVA-EXTRA smartphone app for iOS and Android on Monday.
The first three films in the tetralogy, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance, and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, debuted in 2007, 2009, and 2012 respectively.
Netflix began streaming the original Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series as well as the Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth and Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion films on June 21.
