Dismayado ang 8 grupo ng mga negosante sa umano’y hindi pantay na patakaran sa umiiral na Republic Act No. 11469 o `Bayanihan to Heal as One’ dahil libong ordinaryong mamamayan ang hinuli at kinulong habang ang mga politikong lumabag sa parehong batas ay ‘di man lang dinisiplina.
Sa pinakahuling tala ng Philippine National Police, higit 130,000 katao na ang inaresto o pinagmulta matapos lumabag sa Bayanihan law.
Kasamang lumagda sa joint statement ang Management Association of the Philippines, Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines, Makati Business Club, Institute of Solidarity in Asia, Institute of Corporate Directors, Judicial Reform Initiative, American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines at ang Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines. Binanggit ng grupo ang kaso ni National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) chief , Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas na na ginisa matapos ang `birthday harana’ ng kanyang mga kapwa opisyal kahit bawal ang mass gathering sa COVID-19 lockdown.
Wala rin update sa kaso umano ni Sen. Koko Pimentel, na binatikos ng Makati Medical Center sa pagpunta sa ospital para samahan ang buntis na asawa kahit pa naka-quarantine ito, at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Deputy Administrator Mocha Uson, na nagpaskil ng fake news sa social media.
“Many of those arrested suffered detention, costs, humiliation, and inconveniences, and some endured unwarranted jailtime when unopened courts or government offices, or even limited bank branches, could not process their bail in a timely manner,” wika ng mga negosyante, Mayo 31, 2020.
“We are therefore greatly disappointed — even appalled and dismayed — about news reports of public officials violating with impunity the [Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases] and [Department of Health] protocols intended to protect public health,” dagdag nila.
Tiwala ang mga grupo na magpapatupad ng highest standard ang gobyerno sa pagpapatupad ng batas, at magiging role model ng disiplina at moral ascendancy. (SDC)
