Don’t use goons, Duterte warns candidates

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday warned politicians who will use violence to intimidate voters that he will send an army battalion to arrest the armed goons.

“Huwag kayong magkamali diyan mag gamit ng mga goons, mga ganon kasi papadalhan ko kayo dito ng isang batalyon na army, totoo lang. I will order the Armed Forces to go sa Malabon and hulihin lahat ‘yung mga may armas,” Duterte said in a speech at the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Malabon City.

He also reminded the police and the military to remain non-partisan.

“Mag-neutral kayo o ipaalis ko kayo dito. You must be in the middle. I will not allow the police or the military to be used by anybody – kapartido ko man o kalaban sa politika,” Duterte said.

“Their job is to maintain law and order without fear or favor. Iyan ang utos ng Constitution, iyan ang sundin natin,” he added.
