MANILA (UPDATE) – President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday skipped two events in his hometown Davao City due to a headache, his former top aide said.
Duterte was "indisposed," according to Senate hopeful Christopher "Bong" Go.
“Sumasakit talaga ang ulo ni Pangulo. Nasa bahay lang siya. Nakausap ko siya. Nothing serious po. I assure you walang problema,” he said.
Go said the president had a tight schedule before flying back to Davao City.
“Palagi naman po itong bumabalik-balik sa kanya, lalo na lately na parating busy ating Pangulo na nagtatrabaho talaga hanggang madaling araw. Maraming paper works,” he said.
The President was supposed to attend the distribution of certificate of land ownership awards (CLOA) at 5 p.m., and a PDP-Laban campaign rally at 6:30 p.m.
Go said he has no information yet if Duterte will join the activities on Saturday in line with the 82nd founding anniversary of Davao City.
Duterte was last seen in public on Thursday when he released a new list of politicians tagged in the illegal drug trade.
This was not the first time Duterte skipped events because he was not feeling well. He has admitted that he suffers from back pains, migraines, and Buerger's disease, a cause of blockages in the blood vessels, associated with smoking during his youth.
In October, Duterte said he underwent endoscopy and colonoscopy because he suffers from Barret’s esophagus, a complication of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
He also said he is cancer-free, brushing aside speculation about his health.
