Voice actress Fuyumi Shiraishi passed away on Thursday. She was 82.

A visiting relative discovered her unconscious after she had apparently fallen in her Setagaya home, where she lived alone, in Tokyo on Thursday afternoon. According to her family, the cause of death was ischemic heart failure. A service will be held for family only.

Shirai played Akiko Hoshi, the older sister of the titular character in the popular baseball anime series Kyojin no Hoshi. She also starred as the lead Tarō Kaibutsu in The Monster Kid anime by Doraemon co-creator Fujiko A. Fujio, Doronpa in Obake no Q-Taro, the titular Pataliro in Patalliro!, Kasha Imhof in Space Runaway Ideon, and Totoko in Osomatsu-kun, and she narrated many anime titles. She is arguably best known outside Japan for voicing Mirai in the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime series.

She won a Merit Award for lifetime achievement at the 9th Annual Seiyū Awards in 2015.
