MANILA—Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Saturday said he has no plans to run for president after his term ends.
“Mas problema ’yan, I owe it to the people of Manila and we deserve something else or different. I would rather focus sa mandate ng tao sa Manila because they are expecting,” the mayor said.
This, after some people pointed out that after cleaning many parts of a Manila, Moreno can be a candidate for president, an idea he rejected.
“Hindi pumapasok sa isipan ko. In fact, ’pag tapos ko ng mayor, ’pag papalarin akong makatapos ako ng termino, magtuturo ako,” he said.
“I have been teaching, lectures many times on local governance. Kahit nakapikit ako maise-share ko karanasan.”
When asked to comment on how a good mayor can make for a good president, Moreno didn't budge.
"Ganito na lang. Tulungan niyo na lang ako. Tulungan niyo, maging vigilant kayo para hindi ako matolongges, di ba? Ang mare-report lang sa akin sa opisina puro maganda. Be vigilant. It won't offend me. It will not. In fact, it may make us better in governance," he said.
“Tulungan nyo ko. Du’n na lang muna tayo. Todits, todits muna, Manila lang.”
