The Japan Foundation is hosting HYDE, Wagakki Band, Misia, and PuffyAmiYumi as part of its Japan Night concert, which will take place at the PlayStation Theater and at the Sony Hall in New York on May 12.

HYDE contributed to the soundtracks of DNA², Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Fullmetal Alchemist, Great Teacher Onizuka, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit, and Rurouni Kenshin as part of the rock band L'Arc-en-Ciel. Most recently, HYDE collaborated with X Japan's YOSHIKI to perform the opening song "Red Swan" for the second season of the Attack on Titan anime.

The Wagakki Band group combines rock with traditional Japanese instruments and features a vocalist who recites Japanese poetry. They previously performed the opening and ending theme songs for the Sengoku Musou (Samurai Warriors) television anime series, as well as the Shingeki no Kyojin ~Hangeki no Noroshi~ live-action television series' theme song "Hangeki no Ha." The band recently performed the first opening theme song for the Twin Star Exorcists anime, as well as the ending song for the Holmes of Kyoto anime.

Misia debuted in 1998, and has since released 13 albums and 34 singles. The artist has performed songs for such anime as King of Thorn, Friends: Mononoke Shima no Naki, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, and the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film.

The PuffyAmiYumi duo have performed various anime theme songs, including SD Gundam Force, Hataraki Man, Oh! Edo Rocket, Genji Monogatari Sennenki, Chibi Maruko-chan, Naruto Shippūden: The Will of Fire, Bunny Drop, and Shimajirō no Wow!. The American cartoon Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, which ran from 2004 to 2006, was based on the musical lives of the duo. Puffy performed the theme song for that show as well as for Cartoon Network's Teen Titans animated series (although they did not voice-act in either).
