Ito’y matapos ianunsyo ng National Basketball League (NBL) club team na Manawatu Jets na pumirma na ng kontrata ang Kiwi-native sa kanilang team.
“Taane trained with us in mid-February and from the onset it was clear he could make a real contribution to our group,” ayon kay Jets coach Tim McTamney sa Stuff New Zealand.
“His basketball skill and athleticism have been well documented, but what impressed most was his understanding of the game and the ability to adjust quickly to instruction and coaching. We knew immediately we wanted him in green this year.”
Ayon naman kay Samuel, naramdaman niya ang mainit na pagtanggap ng mga fan ng Manawatu at inaabangan na siyang makasalang para sa koponan bilang import.
“This is a great group of guys. I really love the fact we are all young and hungry to prove ourselves as genuine NBL players, and as a genuine NBL team,” saad ng 6-foot-8 slot man.
Apat na laro lang nakasama si Samuel para sa DLSU, natamo ang isang fracture sa kanyang debut game kontra FEU Tamaraws at nang bumalik ay nakatatlong sunod na talo.
Nag-average ang 19-anyos na atleta ng 5.5 points at 3.0 rebounds para sa Green Archers.
