Hong Kong film distributor Neofilms began streaming a Chinese-subtitled trailer for the Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow anime film on Thursday. The film will open in Hong Kong on March 28.
The film opened in Japan on January 4, and earned 98,963,900 yen (about US$911,690) in its first three days at the box office. The film ranked at #7 for earnings from January 4-6, but ranked at #8 in terms of tickets sold during the January 5-6 weekend. The film has earned a cumulative total of more than 1 billion yen (about US$9.03 million) as of February 22.
