The city of Manila recorded 18 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Thursday, raising the total to 975 cases, the city public information office said.

The city government said 160 patients have recovered from the disease, while 88 others have died.

Barangay Tondo 1 has the most number of active cases of COVID-19 with 204, followed by Sampaloc with 123, and Tondo 2 with 73.

The number of probable COVID-19 cases in the city is at 497 while the suspected cases is at 1,232.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno earlier placed Sampaloc and the first district of Tondo under hard lockdown in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.

Malacañang on Tuesday said that Metro Manila, Laguna and Cebu City will shift to a modified lockdown until the end of the month while the rest of the country will have fewer restrictions as the enhanced community quarantine lapses on Friday.

To date, the Philippines has tallied 11,618 coronavirus infections, with 772 deaths while 2,251 have recovered.
