TINANGGIHAN ng Sandiganbayan 1st Division ang mosyon ng negosyanteng si Janet Lim Napoles na baligtarin ang guilty verdict sa kasong plunder kaugnay ng pork barrel scam.
Hindi umubra ang ginamit na dahilan ni Napoles na walang ‘main plunderer’ sa kaso ni dating Senador Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. kaya’t naabsuwelto ito.
“While the court did not find sufficient evidence for the pronouncement of guilt on the part of Revilla, there is overwhelming evidence to show that his co-accused, Cambe, who is a government official together with accused movant Janet Lim Napoles are the main plunderers in this case,” ayon sa korte.
Sinupalpal din ng korte ang rason ni Napoles na ang perang sangkot sa kaso ni Richard Cambe, staff ni Revilla, ay mababa sa P50M kaya hindi dapat plunder ang kaso. Ngunit ayon sa korte, may testimonya ang testigong si Benhur Luy na ang perang sangkot ay umaabot sa P124.5M.
Binanggit ng korte na may partisipasyon si Napoles sa paggamit ng Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) o pork barrel fund dahil siya ang lumikha ng mga pekeng non-government organization na pinaglagyan ng pondo.
Kasalukuyang nakakulong si Napoles sa Correctional Institution for Women. (Tina Mendoza)
