Steelbooks of 5 Centimeters and Children Who Chase Lost Voices in December and January

Anime Limited has announced details of its forthcoming Blu-ray Steelbook editions of Makoto Shinkai's films 5 Centimeters Per Second and Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

While the exact release dates are still TBC, 5 Centimeters Per Second will be released in December 2020 and Journey to Agartha will be released in January 2021. Both releases will be exclusively sold on AllTheAnime.com and Zavvi.com. As well as the films on Blu-ray, each Steeelbook will contain the Audio CD Soundtrack of the respective film.

Children Who Chase Lost Voices has also been released under the title Journey to Agartha.

The on-disc extras for 5 Centimeters Per Second will be the film storyboard; theatrical trailers; a cast interview; and an interview with Makoto Shinkai. Anime Limited describes the film as follows:

"Takaki and Akari became best friends after transferring into the same elementary school. However, the two are separated following their elementary school graduation. As they place their feelings for each other behind them, time simply passes by. Then one snowy day, Takaki is about to be reunited with Akari. As he sits on the train from Tokyo, his meeting time with Akari drawing ever closer, memories of the past rush through Takaki's head. Join Takaki on a journey into three interconnected tales of love and lost innocence that span the minutes and months of their lives."

The on-disc extras for Children Who Chase Lost Voices include a full-length commentary featuring Shinkai, production staff and voice actors; interviews with staff and cast; The Making of Children Who Chase Lost Voices; a Japanese Promotional Video, and a brief interview with Shinkai. Anime Limited describes the film as follows:

"Life hasn't been easy for Asuna since the death of her father. With her mother forced to work long hours to make ends meet, Asuna spends most of her time alone, listening to the crystal radio her father left behind. It's a curious thing, requiring neither electricity nor an amplifier, but the strange music that plays over it is an even greater mystery. Where does it come from? And what does it mean? The answers will lead Asuna into a hidden world filled with incredible dangers."
