TNVS Drivers to Conduct ‘Transport Holiday’ on Monday

Transport network vehicle service drivers are set to conduct their own set of ‘transport holiday’ on Monday.

Among those who are expected to join are leaders of various hatchback and sedan transport network vehicle service (TNVS) communities nationwide, labor groups, Defend Job Philippines, Lawyers for Commuters Safety and Protection, Kabataan Partylist Representative Sarah Elago, and ACTS-OFW Partylist Represemtative Aniceto Bertiz III.

The TNVS Transport Holiday will see drivers temporarily stop their operations by going offline on Monday from 6 AM up to 6 PM.

The said move is a sign of protest against the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

According to them, there is “inconsistency in its procedural processes in terms of registration and application for TNVS,” “complicated high requirements,” and “slow processing of the Board for acquiring and releasing provisional authority (PA) and Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC).”

The groups will also call for a moratorium of some reported apprehensions of TNVS drivers.

Part of their concerns is the supposed failure to uphold Circular 2018-005 that previously allowed hatchback vehicles to be utilized as TNVS.

The Manila Hatchback Community, accompanied by Lawyers for Commuter’s Safety and Protection and Defend Job Philippines, filed a Mandamus case at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
