Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is recalling the Lexus LS 500h and Lexus LS 500 for a defect that has been found on its run-flat tires.

According to TMP, a defect was found on the sidewall reinforcement layer of the run-flat tires equipped on the aforementioned models that, due to improper installation during the vehicle’s assembly, may develop a crack over time that may lead “to abnormal road noise and/or abnormal vibration.” TMP further stated that under certain driving conditions, portions of the tire tread may separate which would reduce vehicle stability and increase the risk of a crash.

As a preventive measure, TMP will inspect the tires, and if necessary, replace them with new ones at no cost to the customer.

TMP states that the affected models are the 20 units of the Lexus LS 500h manufactured from October 11, 2017, to June 5, 2018, and 31 units of the Lexus LS 500 assembled from December 19, 2017, to June 28, 2018.

TMP is reportedly preparing the replacement parts and will notify the affected customers through Official Notification Letters and invite them to bring their vehicles to Lexus Manila for the special service campaign.
