MANILA- Malacañang praised Thursday the Philippines’ hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, saying participants of the biennial meet did a “wonderful job.”
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said the Philippines is happy to have hosted neighboring Southeast Asian nations in the biennial multi-sport event.
"All of you did a wonderful job giving pride and honor to your respective countries. Your very presence here alone means you are all winners,” he said.
"We likewise witnessed harmony, camaraderie and sportsmanship prevailing among countries in Southeast Asia," he added.
Manila dominated the SEA Games with 149 gold, 117 silver and 121 bronze medals for a total of 387 medals.
The only other time the Filipinos captured the SEA Games general championship was in 2005, the last time they hosted.
During the closing ceremonies on Wednesday, the Philippines formally turned over the hosting chores to Vietnam, which will host the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi.
